LAWS OF THE GAME 2016/17

Post date: Aug 25, 2016 8:08:55 AM

A reminder that for mini soccer players (U7-U10) must retreat to the half way line for goal kicks.

The back pass rule applies to all age-groups, including U7-U10

You will have seen the kick offs at the 2016 Euros, with players playing the ball backwards, this is one of the changes to the Laws of the Game for the 2016/17 season.

At the bottom of this page is a document highlighting the major changes which will come into effect for next season, it is important that players and managers of teams take the time to have a look at these changes and educate themselves on the different laws referees will be asked to apply, hopefully avoiding any confusion or disputes at matches.

Please take the opportunity to download and read through the attached document taking on board the changes, making sure all your players, management team and where possible supporters are aware of the changes.

One of the more notable changes is an alteration to Law 12, the denial of a goal scoring opportunity (DOGSO) in the penalty area. If the referee deems the foul to have been accidental or a genuine attempt to play the ball, the player is cautioned, where they were previously sent off.
